| Bio: | The songs and stories of Chris Kastle have been described as "exquisite" and possessing "powerful imagery". Her performances are a rich blend of original works and those drawn from folk tradition. They captivate, entertain and transport people of all ages.
Her spoken word and musical repertoire includes personal, traditional and original material with guitar, fiddle, penny whistle, mandolin and drum. Chris also creates whimsical, endearing puppets for use with younger audiences. She has been a touring professional for half a lifetime throughout the United States and in Canada, Europe and New Zealand. She is faculty at the Old Town School of Folk Music, an instructor for the Inland Seas Education Association, the Executive Director of Common Times -- the folk-arts organization that produces the "Chicago Maritime Festival" and "Chinquapin Folk Music and Storytelling Festival", and was co-recipient of the 2007 Lantern Bearer Award of the Folk Alliance Region Midwest. |
